Tuscaloosa County Personnel actions and procedures are controlled by a Civil Service Board established by Act 357 of the Alabama Legislature 1949. The Board accepts applications for the following positions during working hours 8:30 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday excluding holidays. A Civil Service examination is required for all positions other than Auto Serviceman, Custodian and Cook. Examination schedules and current entry-level pay listings are available in the County Commission Office, located on the ground floor of the Tuscaloosa County Courthouse. Positions, other than those for which applications are accepted daily, are filled by public advertisement of the Civil Service Board in the local newspapers.
